JUGNU On my recent visit to Srinagar .Noticed it was impossible to walk as pave ments and foot paths have completely been taken over by pavement dwellers. these people sell every thing from a fur shoe to an electric bulb. No surprise every thing is MADE IN CHINA. What attracted me most was a magic lamp.It is an electric lamp and can be used as any other electric lamp .what makes it special is its quality to illuminate when electric supply is off .Cost of this magic lamp is RUPEES 150 only. This Chinese lamp has done to Kashmir what Indian State could not do for Sixty Three years . I My self invested in three lamps during my one week stay in Srinagar and enjoyed uninterrupted light CAnt govt of india even think of producing such lamps in india

  1. I guess it is the Indus Water Treaty that prevents it from doing so!

  2. It is because we Kashmiris have no doubt in our minds that right to free electricity is our fundamental right!
Most of us don't even pay for what we have!
When we can have a telecom infrastructure comparable to any other place in India, why not electricity? The reason is we are forced to pay telephone bills, which is difficult to achieve in case of electricity.
Moreover, stone pelters in downtown would have just another excuse (not that they need one) for raising a "ha khodayo maarikh ho" if they are asked to shell out a rupee for electricity!
