food for thought

We are better placed in terms of economy. We have conquered recession. We are better placed than USA ,China and the rest. We are an atomic power. We produce the highest number of scientists, doctors and engineers in the world. We have been maintaining a growth rate of more then 7%. An industrialist constructs a house for 35 thousand crores. A film does a business of one thousand crores.
sixty five people die in the hope of getting Rupees twenty.
Are we really progressing or creating conditions to graduate from functional democracy to anarchy.

  1. I don't know anymore what progress. From a society that was traditionaly based on values and ethos of co-existence, we are rapidly becoming capitalistic in our attitude and practice, which thrives on diffrentiation. Not to say that wealth generation is bad, but it has to happen bottoms up not tops down. If the economic divide keeps growing, then the capitalists will move out cashing in entire nations efforts.

What I am trying to say is to both grow and keep a functional democracy, we need to build societal systems that empower the lowest echleons of the society...like education, governance, equality in opportunities.....and most important of all.....improve acountability...no person should be previliged because of virtue of position.
