Mr chief minister, what is the truth.

A few days ago, some friends from Mumbai informed me that even minors had been detained in Kashmir under preventive laws. I do not know what is the legal position in Kashmir, but outside, such a detention is illegal, because of Juvenile Laws. In any case, even in Kashmir a minor can not be jailed in a jail. I am not writing this blog to express an opinion as to whether a minor can be detained under detention laws or not.

I try to make a different point. When my friends informed me about the allegation, I posed a question to CM on TWITTER. He was prompt to answer and said, "To my knowledge there is no minor detained under PSA however i will check with home secretary tomorrow '.

Next day he was kind enough to confirm the information he had already given was correct.

Today it is reported in Greater Kashmir that a boy from Anantnag aged 14 is detained under PSA and is lodged at a Jail in Jammu.

Now the question is who is right. Either the report in GK or the CM. Both cannot be right. If GK report is correct, then CM has been given incorrect information because he shared the information after checking with his home secretary.

This is where the question of trust deficit crops up. We have a right to know the truth. If GK report is incorrect CM should say so. If he has given wrong information he should accept so and adequately punish people who gave him wrong information.

  1. If the CM is wrong.......Then this matter is of great concern, for the state and for the nation...
It is not a mere teenager's future development of psyche at sake, but also all the sincere efforts of the well-wishers of JK, who are seeking to divert the state from the path of uneasiness, would go down the drain,in a flash.
Perhaps the State has forgotten that Children are unbaked pots and if this is the path they choose, only God will tel how horrendous the Pitcher will be.
This attitude of the State will only create more dissenting teenagers than they can ever handle!
Can't help thinking of Gaddafi, right at this moment!
